IACMA - International Advanced Course on Musical AcousticsWhy IACMA? The International Advanced Course on Musical Acoustics comes eleven years after the International School of Mechanics of Musical Instruments which was hosted by CISM, in Udine, Italy, in July 1994. However IACMA would give more musical information on all aspects on Musical acoustics, ranging from the basic fundamental of linear acoustics to some experimental aspect of the restoration and conservation of musical instruments, considering the importance of a comprehensive knowledge of many aspects, which are so important also for musicians and composers, as sound synthesis and room acoustics. The course is especially intended for people with simply a basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and acoustics, but with more experience on music, including all aspect, like restoration and conservation of musical instruments, construction of new instruments, or performing music in a widely sense. Lecturers come from different Countries in Europe and USA, in order to give a real international overview of this fascinating discipline, which stays between artistic and scientific field. The participants will receive a CD containing the full text of lectures, as well as some multimedia material, like a copy of the presentation of the lecturers, sound examples, movies, pictures, and so on. All lectures will be in English. The evening of the first day, an International Conference, followed by a Concert, will be hosted at Conservatorium of Bologna. A special reduced fee for IACMA is reserved for Students. For further information, refer to the appropriate page.
